Our name, like that of Positano itself, echoes an ancient legend steeped in salt and devotion. It is said that a ship carrying a Byzantine icon of the Virgin was caught in a violent storm. From the sea rose a voice pleading with the sailors: “Posa, posa” (“Put it down, put it down”). The vessel found calm upon reaching this very bay—and the town was born.
